Two Different Moods

It’s important to understand the slight differences between Haewon & Derek. Haewon tends to be filled with laughter, and has a delightfully calm streak as well. Derek tends to be steady, almost stoic, but can find humor in anything. In other words, the two are hand and glove together. If one is quite, the other is on a mission to make them laugh. This constant trade can be seen in their downtown Columbus engagement photos below.

Schiller Park and German Village

While walking through Schiller Park in German Village, we discussed how Haewon & Derek met. The answer is pretty much like everyone else these days. They had previously met in college, almost in passing. However, they really started dating once they found each other online.

I love the story of their first date. They agreed to meet at Graeter’s Ice Cream. After fetching some dessert, they sat at an outdoor cafe table. Time passed and they remained in deep conversation. They hardly noticed when the ice cream shop had closed. It was dark outside when they finally noticed they had been talking for over four hours.

There Needs to be a Plan

Derek and I are more than a little similar. We are both a bit type A. Especially when it comes to planning in advance. Haewon is deeply curious, almost to a fault. Like most couples, Haewon & Derek had consistently discussed marriage. The time had come for both of them, but Derek wanted to finish school first. He promised Haewon a proposal in the summer.

As the time approached, Haewon’s curiosity grew. She was consistently trying to figure out when and how. Eventually Haewon settled on a particular date for the proposal, although she couldn’t figure out how. Little did she know, her guess was wrong. One evening they were strolling through the Columbus Park of Roses. The park was a favorite spot for Haewon & Derek. Before she knew it, Derek was on a knee and proposing. This was about one week before the date she had guessed.

II personally love the photo above. I think Haewon’s bite illustrates my point. One way or another, she is going to make you laugh.
