No Point in Waiting

I just checked my notes. On October 19th, 2019 Morgan & Jamie booked their September, 2020 New Albany Country Club wedding with me. I think you already see what these dates mean. Let’s me be frank. This year has been rough. It has been so very rough. For couples who are planning a wedding, it has been hard in some very unique ways. Engaged couples face a quandry: do they delay the wedding or push forward.

Morgan & Jamie faced that very question. With hindsight, I can say they chose very wisely. They chose to simply shrink down the size of their wedding, but keep everything else the same. The wedding location would still be New Albany Country Club. They would still have flowers, an outdoor ceremony, and a reception. Their amazing wedding planner would take part, as would I. The only thing Morgan & Jamie changed was the guest count. They simply shifted from a large scale wedding to a small, intimate, and deeply personal wedding. The result was magical.

The Balcony at Sunset

The reception was one of my favorite parts of their wedding, which took place on the rear balcony of New Albany Country Club. The guests were seated at a single table just as the sun began to set. The waiters came by to pour a round of wine. Then the toasts started. Like any wedding, heartfelt words were shared about the Bride & Groom. Father’s spoke lovingly of their children and mother’s shed a tear or two. Meanwhile, golden hour light enveloped the people and landscape.

The Same, But Different

As I mentioned, Morgan & Jamie’s wedding was the same as any other wedding. They even had dances and a sparkler send-off. If I am honest, the wedding was also different. The smaller scale meant that friends and family could be more involved. Each person in attendance was there because there would be no wedding without them. Morgan & Jamie were very wise to move forward with their wedding. The event was amazing and life was not put on hold.
