When we met on the courthouse steps, we took a few minutes to shake off the nerves. It’s not unusual for couples to arrive a little nervous. Truth be told, I was a little nervous as well. Maybe nervous isn’t the word. “Amp’ed” might be the better term. After chatting for a few minutes, we calmed down a bit and got started. Normally, the first few photos don’t make the selection because the nerves show. This was not the case for Natalie and Sean’s engagement session in downtown Cleveland. Something was definitely different. Inside are a few favorite photos from this engagement session that started with a bang.

I was just finishing setup at the studio when my phone rang. It was Sheila and Beau, and they were early! I quickly wrapped up and ran down to meet them. Once back upstairs, we chated for a bit as I got everything together. The idea was to start with just a few photobooth-esque shots. Hence, why we were in the studio I never use. After just a few frames we abandoned the hot studio and headed outside. Finally, a breeze. Step inside to see how this inside/outside engagement session came together on a hot summer morning.

I was almost surprised by the longer evening hours. Yesterday it seemed like the sun was setting at 5:00 PM. Now, we don’t even start engagement sessions until after dinner. I’m certainly happy the evenings are bright again. The summer light is so beautiful. Sunset seems filled with tones of peach, honey, magenta and purple. The fast setting sun also lets loose brief periods of brilliant orange and blonde. For Carrie and Kevin, we started late deliberately to utilize the evening light. We kept going right past sunset because Carrie and Kevin made the light over downtown Cleveland look so amazing. Step inside for just a few favorites (and a blimp too).
