“Hey, Hunter,” Megan beckoned across the Cleveland Museum of Art courtyard. They’d spotted me first. I had been nervously pacing, but that now melted away. It was time to start their Cleveland engagement photos.
Megan and I hugged, and then I shook Ryan’s hand. “How are you, sir? Can you believe this weather?”
This day was perfection. The sky was completely clear. The warm air lightly shifted about, creating a barely discernible breeze. We had collectively planned this day for quite some time. There was discussion about me coming to Boston. After some back and forth, we settled on Cleveland instead. We still had to choose final locations, which led to some more back and forth. I’m certain that Megan & Ryan had many other decisions to make as well. I’d say there was lots of wardrobe discussion, but let’s be honest, these two are naturally stylish.
More important than all of the planning was attitude. Megan and Ryan are so perfect together, and even more perfect in photos. They were immediately relaxed (wine helps) and engaged with each other. I think the best word to describe their Cleveland engagement photos would be heartfelt. As we worked, we all had a connection together. The connection created a natural warmth that comes through in the photos. That connection got me a bit excited. I even remarked on it during the shoot.
When their Cleveland engagement photos were done, Megan & Ryan headed out for a dinner at L’Albatross. Meanwhile, I rushed back to the office. Immediately, I shoved the film into an express envelop. I had to get the images completed immediately. I needed, like needing water, to see the photos. When the film was finished, I realized everything I had hoped for came true. I love every inch of the photos below, and then some. More so, working with Megan & Ryan has been a dream.
I certainly hope you enjoy the highlights below as much as I.
The photo below is a happy accident. My camera bumped my hip and fired – and I love the resulting image. Go figure!
