A couple weeks prior to their Plum Brook Country Club wedding, I stood with Ally on the back patio of the Club. We were joined by a seriously creative team of professionals who were helping to design Ally & Josh’s wedding. The conversation swirled as we all tossed out our best ideas for solving small logistical issues. At the time, I was pretty familiar with how the wedding would look, or so I thought. Little did I know how smashing the entire day would be.
When Ally & Josh’s Plum Brook Country Club wedding finally arrived, I found myself standing in Ally’s childhood bedroom admiring all the little wedding details. Ally and the bridesmaids weren’t yet back from the salon, so I simply started to photograph her wedding dress, invitation and other little details. “What do you think of the dress?” Ally asked, as she appeared for the first time in the doorway. She was wearing a blue dress shirt, custom embroidered for her wedding day. One cuff said “I do” and the other had the wedding date. “I looks stunning!” I replied, almost holding my breath as I said it.
It wasn’t just the wedding dress that was stunning. The entire day was draped with the most elegant champagne and black colored details. Her wedding invitation suite was a mix of bombshell calligraphy and art deco glam. Each bridesmaid had a matching embroidered shirt to commemorate the occasion. Josh and the groomsmen also looked equally as smart, with each dressed is a classic black tuxedo. The floral design was equally as amazing. From the “A&J” initials on the church doors to the bouquets and centerpieces, each floral arrangement was better than the last. One of my favorite touches was the “guest book.” It was a magnum of champagne, painted gold, and guests were encouraged to sign the bottle.
I’ve always thought the moments within a wedding are most important. Ally & Josh’s wedding may have been filled with gorgeous details, but it was also filled with touching moments. Ally’s mother and father were both overwhelmed by a simple gift presented by Ally in the morning. There was a little comic relief when Ally’s veil slipped from her head during the ceremony. The groomsmen even took a moment to run a football play in the middle of the portraits. More touching than funny was the toast given by Ally’s dad during the reception. And, or course, there was some serious partying late into the night.
Sorting through a mountain of photos from this Plum Brook Country Club wedding looking for just a few highlights was tough, but I made it happen. Below are some of my favorites from the day.
