Katie & Tim – A Downtown Cleveland Engagement with Love

Sometimes I amaze myself. And not because I’m exceptional or particularly gifted. Every once in a while, I get photos back from the lab and I’m blown away. When this happens, it’s never about me.

It is always about color, light, but mostly my stunning clients. Katie and Tim definitely fall into that category – stunning. More than anything, they’re just sweet people. Katie and Tim are also gorgeous. They’ve got a great sense of style which definitely eclipses my own. And they’re smart. Like really, crazy smart. They are the type of people that anyone would be proud to call their friends.

So it’s deserved that their engagement session turned out so well. The soft light in downtown Cleveland was simply perfect. The colors turned out like a fistful of spring. In fact, this session was my first official spring engagement session of 2013. I’m certainly looking forward to their upcoming wedding. Returning to Westwood Country Club once more will be a treat. The staff at Westwood are wonderful. But it’s Katie and Tim that will really make it special.

I thought you might enjoy a few highlights from their all-film engagement session, seen below –

I have to say that my favorite is black and white of Katie with her eyes closed. The expression is simply perfection for me. That’s all for today, but I will have more coming soon!

Julia & Evan – Spring Wedding at the Hyatt Arcade

“We’re not ready yet,” Elise said over the phone. “Can you start with the gentlemen?”

I answered “Of course and we’ll see you soon.” We headed up to room 346 at the Hyatt Arcade, where we found the gentlemen. I think the proper word in this case is definitely – gentlemen. They were dressed in unique tuxedos, each one a little different than the next. And these were proper tuxedos. James Bond tuxedos. Magazine cover tuxedos! Each of the four groomsmen looked perfect. Then there was Evan. He looked sharp and was ready for the big day. In fact, they all were ready.

Before long, the ladies were ready as well. Each bridesmaid wore a gorgeous dress in turquoise blue, outfitted with pockets. While they had matching dresses, each bridesmaid was also unique. Every bridesmaid had  a unique peep-toe shoe in pewter. All of them similar, but a little different. Of course Julia was beaming. Every time a lady whispered “Your getting married,” Julia broke out in a huge smile. She looked perfect as well. She was beautiful, as always. Her dress was…stunning. It was a ruffled soft white and riveted with stunning bead word. Her shoes matched her new turquoise earrings, a gift from Evan.

So what’s so special about Julia and Evan’s wedding? It starts with the people. The bridesmaids and groomsmen were an absolute joy. Each one happy and energetic. The colors were swoon-worthy. Julia’s choice of orange circus roses really popped against the blue dresses. Lastly, the first look shared by Julia and Evan just outside the Arcade was emotional and loving. Although no one cried, especially the photographer. Just saying.

It’s been and thrill to work with Julia, Evan, their friends and family. I know they are going to have an amazing honeymoon and an amazing future together. Hopefully, you enjoy the highlights below from this very special wedding.

Courtney & Bill – A Winter Engagement in Lakewood

I try to make engagement sessions memorable for my clients. I always suggest that the session be a small part of a more romantic day. For example, I suggest they plan a nice dinner for after the session. I also like to include locations that have special meaning for my clients. For example, where they first met or where they were engaged. So was the case for Courtney and Bill. We returned to where they met, and spent many hours together.

While Courtney and Bill currently live in Florida, we returned to where they met for their engagement session. It also happens to be my current home town – Lakewood. To make things really personal, we also visited the Kenilworth Bar and Grille. They first met at the Kenilworth, through mutual friends I believe, and lived nearby before moving to Florida. And like any good session, it started with a beer at the bar.

From there, we simply wandered around our home town, stopping from time to time for a few photos. While it was bitterly cold, I think the entire session came out wonderfully. I especially love Courtney’s bright pink coat and Bill’s scarf. We ended the session by the lake shore. While a bit windy, the shoreline made for a gorgeous backdrop. Below are just a few highlights. Personally I can’t wait for their Cleveland wedding. Thankfully, Cleveland is a lot warmer in September.
