Emily & Greg – Two Moments in Time Under the Slowly Falling Snow

I’m going a little simple today. Emily and Greg recently had their engagement session. It was simple beautiful. For most of the session we were shooting under the slowly falling snow just after Christmas. Above are just two moments, captured on film.

I’m really looking forward to their wedding, which is coming up in less than two months. Hopefully we won’t have any snow for their early March wedding. On another note, I’m changing up some of the blog layout. Gone is the logo at the bottom of each photo. I rather like the more simplistic approach.

Alexis & Joe – A Columbus Athletic Club Wedding of Gold and Purple

I love photographing weddings in Columbus. They take me back to my home town; a place I know and love. It’s even better when I absolutely adore the clients, as it is with Alexis and Joe. They have been amazing from the start – friendly, excited, and so easy to work with. Their wedding at the Columbus Athletic Club could not have been better. I’d like to say the highlight was a golden wedding cake, but it was really Alexis and Joe.

They planned one of my favorite weddings from this year. The church and club were beautiful. The whole design was superb! To top it all off, their friends and family were so nice. I loved the golden wedding cake the most, followed closely by Alexis’ stunning dress. I also loved Joe’s cufflinks, which were a gift from Alexis. I would simply kill for a pair. The florals from Flowers on Orchard Lane were perfect.

I think the real highlight from their wedding was capturing the creative wedding portraits at Capital Square. If your not familiar with Columbus, the state capital building is right in the middle of the city. The building occupies an entire city block and makes for an excellent wedding photo location. The neo-classical building in pale limestone makes for a soft backdrop. The gardens in bloom allow for a little pop of color. Even better, the state house was within easy walking distance of Trinity Episcopal Church and the Columbus Athletic Club. The entire wedding nearly took place on just one block.

It was sincerely difficult to pick highlights from Alexis & Joe’s wedding. Below are just a few favorites culled from an absolutely gorgeous wedding set.

What an amazing wedding. I even got the chance to shoot some extra special film, seen mostly in the portraits above. I’m certainly looking forward to sharing more weddings, so stop back soon.

Torri & Lucas – A Sunkissed Film Engagement Session

Just after I parked and unloaded my gear, Torri pulled in and was ready to go, but there was a problem. “Lucas is running late, but he should be here in a moment,” Torri said. After a few minutes, another car pulled up and I asked if this was him. “No, you’ll know Lucas when you see him,” She said again. Curious, I asked for more details. For the next 10 minutes, we joked about Lucas’ choice of transport. I must say, it’s quite stylish. I’d love to have a van like his. But enough about cars.

We spent the afternoon wandering around downtown Cleveland for their engagement session. Sometimes a loose plan is the best plan. Instead of picking specific locations, we just picked a single place to start – Brown’s Stadium. From there, it was wanderlust. We just moved around as needed. We’d stop and I would shoot a couple rolls of film, and then we would move on. It was a nice, fun, and easy engagement session.

And I guess this approach was fitting for Torri and Lucas – they are nice, really fun, and easy to get along with. I really think their personality comes through in the photos below. Clearly they’re in love, but you can see the fun as well. It truly made for a relaxed session. To cap things off, we did visit one planned spot. The spot is so small, it really doesn’t have a name. It’s just a small patch of green beside the road with a great view of the city, but it’s special to Torri and Lucas. We finished the session with a few sunkissed portraits as the sun set over the lake. We also ended with an inside joke. Lucas and Torri and very close in height, so Lucas jumped on a set of books for a boost.

Below are a few favorites for everyone to enjoy.

I’m still giggling over the photo above with the books, and I’m still in awe of the last photo. Torri looks so smashingly gorgeous! That’s all for today. Shortly after the holidays, I will have more coming soon.
