Katie & Tim – Wedding at Westwood Country Club

I had only a couple house to go before I arrived at Katie’s parents. I looked out the window a recognized a familiar face. I gave a quick wave to Mrs. Browning as I parked the car in a very familiar neighborhood. Just a few weeks prior, I had been here for another wedding. This instantly familiarity would carry me throughout the day. I was very familiar with Katie and Tim from working with them for over a year. I was familiar with their church, Holy Trinity in Avon, from an earlier wedding. And I was definitely familiar with their wedding reception location. Westwood Country Club in Rocky River is one of my absolute favorites.

What was new and exciting about Katie and Tim’s wedding was much more important than what was familiar. Speaking of exciting, the bridesmaids wore dresses I have never seen before. They looked so sharp in black and white stripes! Each bridesmaid also wore a bracelet – as a gift from Katie – and they were so perfect. The faces were mostly new as well. The entire family and bridal party were a dream to work with.

A big exit followed the ceremony and then we were off to downtown Cleveland for portraits. While we visited some familiar locations, we also hit up some new places as well. We had a chance to visit Jacob’s Field, even though it’s not pictured below. We also had a chance for a great Cleveland skyline photo of the group, which you can see below.

One of my favorite moments from the entire day was Katie & Tim’s first dance. The song was a bit of a surprise, and caused the gathered guests to break out singing. I even whipped around to grab a shot as a spontaneous cheer broke out behind me. Also new was an old Irish song delivered by a family member from the dance floor. A little new was the opportunity for sunset shots along the golf course green. We found just a few minutes to sneak outside before the sun was gone for the night.

I’m certainly thrilled with how the entire day turned out, and I hope you enjoy some of the highlights below.

Lyndsey & Jerry – Engagement Session at Holden Arboretum

Somethings can’t be stopped and certainly shouldn’t wait. So is the case with Lyndsey and Jerry. If my math is correct, they’ve known each other for more than half of their young lives. By any measure, to hold a friend for so long in your life is an achievement. For Lyndsey and Jerry, it’s much more.

They initially met in grade school, with Jerry being a bit older than Lyndsey. Throughout grade school they dated regularly, on into college and then to present day. People speak of high school sweethearts as though they’re some white whale – known to exist but exceedingly rare. Lyndsey and Jerry are proof that high school sweethearts do still exist. It’s easy to see why their relationship has lasted forever. They’re absolutely radiant with one another.

Seneca, New York is a favorite destination for Lyndsey and Jerry. Jerry went to college nearby and they regularly return for weekend trips. It was on one of these trips that Jerry purposed. They were at the hotel, packing gear before heading out for the day. As Lyndsey tells it, she had noticed Jerry was nervous about something. He was pacing around the room and couldn’t settle down. I’d imagine he had a grand plan, but decided right then – in the room with Lyndsey – was the best possible proposal. He knelt down and she said yes.

As it turns out, Holden Arboretum on August 21st was the best plan as well. Neither August 20th nor August 22nd would not do. The weather, by fate, had guided us to Holden for their engagement session on this day alone. All other days were rained out. But this day, this one day, was perfect. At sunset, the light glowed softly through high, thin clouds. The colors turned peach and orange rather early, adding a warm glow to the fields. Below are some special highlights from only August 21st.

Lindsey & Jared – A University Circle Engagement Session

Some stories you just can’t make up. I have a few stories of my own like that. Lindsey and Jared have a great one too. While we were walking around University Circle for their engagement session, Jared recounted how he first met Lindsey.

They were both students at The Ohio State University when they met. The funny part, the part that can’t be made up, is how they met. They were both out at a bar one night, unbeknownst to one another. Jared, while minding his own business, accidentally spilled a beer on some girl. While he didn’t say so himself, I suspect the girl was less than pleased. To escape any chance of wrath, Jared quickly ran away. Then Fate waved her hand, and Jared bumped right into Lindsey. Whether you call it kismet or fortune, it worked. Jared and Lindsey have been stuck together, and quite happily so, ever since.

And their engagement session was a happy affair as well. We simply walked around different areas of University Circle. We visited the Cleveland Art Museum, Case Western Reserve University and the Cleveland Cultural Gardens. All the while, Jared and Lindsey kept me in stitches. They’re such a fun couple and I certainly can’t wait for their wedding. It certainly will be something fateful and wonderful.

For now, enjoy the sights below – some of my favorites from their fun engagement session.
